NFL, Election, Etc.

  • I went to a Starbucks ($SBUX) yesterday and it was packed.  I thought maybe iPhone users tapping into free ATT wi-fi.  No, just folks hanging out.
  • For all the talk about how miserable the economy is, I'm not seeing it wherever I go.  Starbucks, Costco, restaurants...  They seem crowded to me.  Maybe folks have a bit more pocket cash with gasoline prices dropping.
  • Or maybe now that the banks have foreclosed on their properties, they have smaller rent or mortgage payments and more disposible cash.  LOL.
  • On yesterday's Moneytalk radio show, Bob Brinker mentioned that the freezing of the credit markets and negative GDP was because the government let Lehman Brothers (LEH) fail.  IBD says the sameThe economy seemed to be settling into a mild recession until Lehman Bros.' Sept. 15 bankruptcy roiled global financial markets, sending the U.S. into a steeper descent.
  • How Mortgage Crisis Happened - Good Intentions Paved Dire Path.  An interesting timeline on how we got from there to here.  Bottom line is bad mortgages.  Banks lending to people who didn't have the abilty to pay.
  • I thought the John McCain skit on Saturday Night Live went well.  Tina Fey as Sarah Palin with McCain on the  QVC bit, because Obama could afford a 30 minute infomercial on the major three networks; while McCain could only afford QVC.  And sellin' stuff to boot!
  • Barack Obama up huge in the polls today.  I think he now has a 107% lead among likely voters, thanks to the contributions from Disney characters.
  • I'm sure Obama will win on Tuesday.  But that doesn't mean McCain supporters shouldn't vote.  Tons of important issues out there on a local level.
  • And if you do vote for McCain, remember when you leave the booth and answer the exit poll, tell them you voted for Obama.  LOL.
  • Need a portable iPhone charger?
  • I love watching the Red Zone channel on Sundays.  Live highlights are better than old highlights.
  • Global Warming - Is the End Near?  A look at some comments from around the world on the crippling effect of the alarmism.
  • Global warming, uh cooling, uh warming, uh cooling...  Well it looks like they’ve definitely cleared this up. Trees are warming the planet. Uh, make that trees are cooling the planet. Uh. Well...
  • Maurice Jones-Drew has been quite a disappointing fantasy football RB.  Pathetic.  I guess it's the Jaguars offensive line.
