- I ended up with only 49 trick-or-treaters last night. It was raining off and on here plus a little breezy.
- Cutest costume? A girl in a full-body penguin suit. No scary monsters. Lots of princesses, Spidermen, and ninjas. One was in the evil black-Spiderman outfit. Not too many older kids this year.
- We're on to November, my favorite month of the year. Still nice weather. A bunch of holidays thrown in. Sweet.
- Will it be sweet for the stock market?
- In Barrons, a permabear warms to stocks.
- Gasoline prices have fallen 45 days in a row! A big stimulus tax cut for consumers. Until the world economies speed up, demand increases, and prices go back up becase we (the US) haven't done anything to address increasing supply, building nuclear power, etc.
- I thought John McCain was going to win when the election was about energy. How the economy stole the election.
- NBA freeview on DirecTV. I had a few games on last night while passing out the candy. Most exciting game? Overtime win by the Raptors over the Warriors. Frustrating game? DirecTV went black on the Orlando - Memphis game with under a minute to go. And the game was down to the wire! I guess the game ran longer than the schedule, so the channel just went to the blue DirecTV logo.
- Also watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Not that great. The National Treasure movies were better.
- Just checking my Netflix ($$NFLX) queue, and noticing that many movies I have there are now available via their instant streaming. I think $$NFLX is going to expand in a huge way with the inclusion in DVRs, video game consoles, etc. And now with limited HD streaming and more recent content. I don't own the stock or know much about the valuations, but $$NFLX as a company is a winner. Now they need to develop an iPhone application to watch movies from.
- Of course, will $$NFLX hold on? Lots of free streaming via Youtube, Hulu, etc. now. The DVR and DVD players could be on their last leg.
