Cold Case Solved!

  • It took 300 years, but Virginia's only convicted witch has finally been pardoned. Case closed!
  • The market looked horrible.  Nobody likes this market right now.  Everyone is scared of technology.  Semiconductors got smoked today.  Maybe this is a great set-up ahead of earnings season and options week next week.  If one has the stomach to go long.  Everyone seems to think that earnings will be bad.  Could be priced in?  Maybe.
  • The Biscuit is joining the cast of 24 next season.
  • Overheard in the OfficeI made a mental note about that, but I don't seem to have brought it with me.
  • I thought this was interesting frmo Boston Gal's Open Wallet.  She highlights an article from the Boston Globe on how folks in Boston spent their mone in 1901 compared to 2003.  I bet the trend is similar around the country.  Folks today complain about housing, but in 1901 Boston only 15% owned their homes and 30% of their income went to housing; whereas today, 36% of Bostonians income goes to housing and 59% owning their own homes.
  • By the way, the Black Box still likes the market.  Not much has happened since the Black Box went bullish, other than we've been in a summer trading range as I thought we would be.  My holdings from the Black Box buy are all in the red, but not by that much.  Semiconductors are faring the worst.
