Earnings, Earnings, Everywhere

imageHere we go.  Alcoa to kick off earnings reports tomorrow after the closing bell.

This is where it gets tougher, because the year over year comparisons aren’t as easy.  The economy is past the recession.  Wall Street has been growing for over two years.

We are also seeing new hiring and the unemployment coming down.  Companies have emerged from “hunkering down” through the bad times, and are back to hiring and growing.

So when we hear the upcoming earnings reports, we many not see the huge gains in the year over year comparisons.  But if I know that, everyone knows that, right?

I don’t think the year over year numbers will be as important as the future guidance.  Investors will focus on the outlook going forward.  Will companies be hunkering down or growing?

Stay tuned.  Alcoa tomorrow!
