Back to Work!

A sneak attack on an empty wallet, Muck?

  • Even with the sell on the QQQQ (and SP500) from friday's action, I haven't done any selling yet.  Today is historically positive, but I am concerned about the potential weakness ahead of options week.  For now, I'm going to run with the bulls and hope the bears aren't planning a sneak attack.  Won't be so sneaky, since there is a history of a late summer to fall swoon.  Regarding the oil buy signal on USO friday, I don't have enough history with that ticker to know how my indicators work with it.  So... eh.
  • As I've mentioned previously, the Black Box does better with buy signals than sell signals.  But it's usually pretty good either way.  I'm overall bullish on the market and economy and think that stocks will continue to trend up.  That being said, we've come a long way since the bottom of the correction and are due for a pullback.  What better excuse than "September?"
  • Chevron found a big bunch of oil in the Gulf.
  • Pretty amazing that Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, met his demise at 44.  He combined enthusiasm, entertainment and information about wildlife to all of us.  My thoughts and prayers for his family.  Wow.
  • Traffic was HORRIBLE today on the way in. School back in session. Vacations over. Freeways packed. Yikes.
  • Even small changes can help couch potatoes"Simply ... moving from being totally inactive or sedentary to having any sort of physical activity -- less than half an hour on average of daily activity or more -- can be associated with something like a 20 percent lower risk of death in the next 10 years," said Dr Kay-Tee Khaw of the University of Cambridge.  As the nights get longer and colder, combined with the new Fall TV season and football, it's certainly more tempting to become less active in the coming months!
