Dog Days

What's wrong with Dog Days, Muck?

  • The market flopping and chopping now.  Gapped down at the open, and CNBC was full of stock blow-up news this morning.  Have you seen CNBC negative like this very often?  Monthly strength is over, but now folks are placing their bets on what the Fed will do on August 8th.  That's the next big catalyst.  What will the Fed do?  More importantly, what will the Fed say?  Earnings season is also winding down.  After the Fed makes their call, we enter the Void of August.   Dog days, indeed!
  • Here's a shocker!  Napster subscribers declineNapster on Wednesday provided a disappointing outlook for its online music service and said its subscriber base had fallen 7 percent as it focused on promoting a new free Web site.  You know, the web is ever-changing.  I can't imagine investing in a web company these days.  The barrier of entry is so low.  There is tons of competition.  Price competition for services is fierce, and many services are just plain free.
  • I still don't know who would by an ad on a web site.  Do you ever click on those?  If so, probably by accident as some flash ad expands and you click it by accident before immediately closing the pop-up.
  • Breast feeding reduces anxiety.  I think some of my stressed-out coworkers could use a little.
  • More supernatural TV on Fox... "Amy After Dark" centers on a young attorney in New York who joins the undead after she is bitten by a vampire.  Buffy the Lawyer Slayer?  The other, as-yet-untitled project centers on an energetic young police detective with a secret: behind his youthful appearance, he actually is centuries old.  A Dorian Gray version of "TJ Hooker?"
